Omar was born in 1976. He began regular studies in music at the age of ten. One year later, he performed his first concert, playing horn, his first instrument. Shortly after, he began studying the piano and finally the flute, which is now his principal instrument.

With his academic studies behind him, in 1997 he began the Music Graduation Course at the Rio de Janeiro Federal University where he developed his skills while studying under professor-flutist Eduardo Monteiro.

In 1999, The Ministry of Culture invited him to perform concerts and give master classes in the major Brazilian cities, Caxias do Sul, Brasilia, and Curitiba. This engagement marked his first professional experience. After this, Omar started playing with pianist Tibor Fittel with whom he has performed all over Brazil in a collaboration of more than 300 concerts. Together with guitar players Celso Ramalho and Eduardo Gatto, Omar founded, in 1997, “The Triversos Ensemble”. This group plays Brazilian Contemporary Music and has performed in several Brazilian cities.

In 2001, Omar relocated to Moscow to improve his skills in composition at The Russian Gnesin's Academy of Music. Omar would remain in Russia until 2007. There he started working with pianist Natasha Nikiforova. They began playing as a duo in 2001 under professor Leonid Block in the chamber music course of the Academy and regularly performed in Moscow. Additionally, the duo has played in various cities throughout Russia, including the city of Alexandrov. There they performed in the VII and the VIII International Chamber Music Festivals, in March of 2003 and 2004.  The duo performed in Brazil in 2002 / 03 and 04 and also has appearances in Italy, Lithuania, Ukraine, England and Denmark. In April of 2006, Omar and Natasha were awarded the first prize in the International Chamber Music Competition "XXI Century Art”, in Kiev, Ukraine.

Also in 2006 and 2007, in Denmark, Omar had the pleasure of attending classes under professor, pianist Jose Ribera, one of the most brilliant musicians of his generation, pupil of Alfred Cortot, a great influence in Omar’s approach to music.

The flutist finished his Masters Degree in flute performance at the Ohio State University under Professor Katherine Borst Jones. He held the position of graduate teaching assistant.
